We got Princess as a puppy out of a box from people at a Walmart. On the car ride home, she acted like she was royalty, hence her name. Her puppy years were unruly and destructive as she chewed up everything from shoes to phone chargers. As she blossomed into an adult, she became very independent. She didn’t care at all for strangers or other dogs. She enjoyed her walks, playing with the hose, and loved her raw hide bones. I suffer from PTSD, and unknowingly to both of us, Princess soon became my emotional support dog. She was the only one that could calm me down most times, and knew just what to do and just when to do it. Her illness was brief. She began limping and not being too interested in her food, so I took her to the Vet. X-rays showed numerous problems and they drew labs that showed potential kidney problems. They sent us home with antibiotics. Over the weekend she refused to eat anything and declined quickly. The Vet sent her bloodwork off to be further checked and it came back that Princess was in complete renal failure. She spent two days at the Vet undergoing intensive care to try to reverse it to no avail. As she laid in my lap with me stroking her fur and telling her how much I loved her and that everything was going to be okay, we set her spirt free on August 10th, 2020 at about 1:50pm. A piece of me died with her that day. She will be forever in our hearts and always on our minds.
